Frequently asked questions
A divorce usually takes around 4-6 months from beginning to end. Much of this time is due to the court’s processing times and the law which specifies the number of days between different stages. We will process all the paperwork quickly and advise you on the most efficient way through the process. Financial considerations may affect the length of time the divorce takes.
Unless you qualify for help with the court fee, the person seeking the divorce will need to pay the court fee (currently £410). If your spouse cooperates with the divorce we can probably manage the divorce itself for a fixed fee of £500 plus VAT. Often your spouse will contribute towards these costs.
Usually there is no need wait before starting the divorce process. We would be happy to discuss the options with you.
