The 2008/09 season has been another memorable one for the Garforth Tigers Under 14’s Amateur Rugby League Team. Runners-up in the division last season, the Tigers went one step further this year becoming the Yorkshire Juniors Division 4 Champions.
After losing the first game of the season away at New Earswick, the Tigers went on to win their next seven games. The run included home and away victories over closest rivals Hunslet Parkside who were to eventually finish second.
There was a slight set-back with defeat away at Knottingley but the Tigers recovered to win their last three games comfortably and secure the top position.
The Tigers scored an amazing 572 points in the season, averaging 48 points per game, and only conceded 140.
Under the coaching team of Roger Slinn and Michael Taylor, the boys have developed as players and as young men. They have been a pleasure to coach, and remain as always, an inspiration.
