Take a walk on the wild side and experience Wakefield’s alternative night out! Every other month, venues across Wakefield come alive with a variety of visual arts and crafts, live music, and performances. All are welcome, so slip on some comfy shoes and come and enjoy the art on offer whilst you explore our city!
Following a trip to Seattle, where a regular art walk was inspiring artists and visitors alike, the Artwalk was established here in 2008. The Artwalk has become a popular, successful and regular part of the cultural scene in Wakefield. An alternative night out for those living and working in the area and neighbouring districts, the Artwalk attracts a broad spectrum of society and celebrates the arts in an informal and accessible way. From children to adults, members of the general public through to professional artists, it’s about bringing grassroots art activity to the fore and creating a sense of community.
The Artwalk event runs bi-monthly from January, always being programmed for the last Wednesday of an Artwalk month. Advertised time for Artwalk exhibitions and events are 5pm-9pm (though this can vary according to the venue).
