Six men have been charged with a total of 27 serious sexual assault charges in an investigation into historical abuse in children’s homes.
Five men face a total of 26 charges and the sixth man faces one count. They have been charged as part of the National Crime Agency (NCA) inquiry, Operation Pallial.
Operation Pallial was set up after allegations of abuse emerged from children aged between six and 19 who had been at children’s homes across north Wales between 1953 and 1995.
Twenty people have been arrested since November 2012 and eight more have voluntarily attended police stations for interview under caution. Information from 212 people is under active investigation by the NCA, out of allegations reported by 255 people. A total of nine people have so far been charged.
The six men’s offences are alleged to have taken place against two boys under 16 between 1981 and 1986 in Wrexham. They will appear at Mold Magistrates’ Court on 12th June.
