A BEESTON man has denied a child cruelty charge relating to alleged historical abuse at care homes across North Wales.

Kelvin Horriban, 62, of Ashfield Avenue, pleaded not guilty at Mold Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

His co-defendant Keith Evans, 70, of Main Road, Old Rhosrobin, Wrexham, also denied the charge.

It is alleged they committed the offences between 1978 and 1981 when the boy was aged between nine and 12.

Both will appear at Mold Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on October 17.

The charges result from Operation Pallial, a National Crime Agency investigation into allegations of historical abuse in the care system in North Wales.

Twenty-one people have now been arrested or interviewed under caution by agency officers. Of these, 11 people have been charged, with the remainder on bail pending further inquiries.
