Three men and a woman have been arrested and charged in connection with historic physical and sexual abuse at Shadwell Children’s Home in Leeds and Thorpe Arch Grange Children’s Home in Wetherby.

Three people have been charged in relation to offences ranging between the 1980s and 1990s at Shadwell Children’s Home in Leeds. Melvin Hamilton Blake (69) has been charged with two counts of buggery, eleven counts of indecent assault and seventeen counts of possession of prohibited images of children and possession of extreme pornographic images.

Marion Beresford (60) has been charged with seven counts of indecent assault and Len (Lenny) Anthony Lake (61) has been charged with two counts of indecent assault.

Relating to Thorp Arch Grange Children’s Home, Roy Lovatt (70) has been charged with seven counts of buggery and five counts of indecent assault for offences ranging between the 1970s and 1980s.
