Gerald Martin a Hartlepool funeral director is accused of sexually abusing five teenage boys over a 20 year period commencing in the 1970’s.

In 2013 a man who had visited the University of North Tees’s Hospital for suicidal thoughts told a nurse that he had been assaulted. After  Gerald Martin’s first appearance in Court other people then started to come forward alleging that they had also been abused.

One man alleges that as a boy aged 12 or 13 he was walking home after been out playing and stopped at some public toilets. He alleges that he was then grabbed by Martin and taken to Martin’s funeral parlour where he was sexually abused. Other men also allege that they were also abused by Martin in public toilets.

Gerald Martin, who is well known in Hartlepool, denies the charges and the trial continues.
