A gang of four men from Dewsbury were convicted on the 27th September 2016 at the Leeds Crown Court for various sex offences including rape, trafficking and grooming two teenage girls. Detective Inspector Lis Walker of West Yorkshire described the gang as “devious and manipulative.”
The men abused a 13 year old and 15 year old girl in 2014 at a flat in Dewsbury. The 13 years old victim disclosed the abuse to a school welfare officer. She reported that she had been seriously sexual assaultedby the ment and this led to the .
The girls first met two of the men in August 2014 in the Thornes Park and were later introduced to the other two men. Detective Walker said, “These men took advantage of young vulnerable victims for the sole purpose of sexually abusing them.” Chief Superintendent Mobs Hussain commented that “the gang behaved in a reprehensible fashion and targeted some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.
The men were jailed with sentencing ranging from 10 to 19 years.
