Woodhouse was abused by 24 year old Arshid Hussain when she was only 14 years of age.

Ms Woodhouse also gave birth to the abusers child as a result of the attacks. Arshid Hussain was jailed in 2016 for 35 years for 23 offences including rape and indecent assault.

Ms Woodhouse was originally refused compensation as the letter from the CICA that “”I am not satisfied that you were a victim of sexual activity to which you did not in fact consent. I’m not satisfied that your consent was falsely given as a result of being groomed by the offender.” She appealed the decision and was granted a small amount of compensation. This was then altered and she was awarded the maximum amount available.

A Freedom of Information request has revealed that Ms Woodhouse is one of nearly 700 child victims of sexual abuse, including grooming, to be refused payment. The government has confirmed that CICA is reviewing its guidelines and “CICA has decided to mount an urgent re-examination of its own internal guidelines, in particular to make sure that there is no risk that a child could be disqualified from compensation because they had been groomed.”
