We are successfully representing clients in pursuing claims under the Lambeth Children’s Home Redress Scheme.

This scheme deals with applications for compensation payments to people who as children were abused or feared abuse at a Lambeth Children’s Home and/or Shirley Oaks Primary School. The scheme will remain open until the 1st January 2020.

One of our clients has been awarded the highest award of £10,000 by way of Harm’s Way Payment.

This award is made to people who were a resident at a Lambeth Children’s Home as a child and feared that they would be physically or sexually abused or were neglected or suffered cruelty whilst they were there.

To receive an award it is necessary to meet the following specific criteria:
1. You are able to prove that you were a resident at the home;
2. You are able to demonstrate that your experience interfered with your ability to experience happiness and fulfilment during your childhood within the relevant qualifying period;
3. You were a resident as a child at a Lambeth Specialist Unit for children with disabilities.

If the above criteria can be meet then you are entitled to receive a harm’s way payment of up to £10,000. The amount of compensation you receive will be determined on the length of time you were at the home. If you were at a specialist unit then an award of £10,000.00 will be made to you irrespective of the length of time you were at the unit.

Our client’s claim was concluded within 4 months of the date of instruction. The payment awarded by the Council is received in full as under the scheme legal costs are met by Lambeth Council.

The effects of abuse on a child can have far reaching implications, having an extreme impact on their development as adults and their day to day functioning.
