Solicitor – Professional Negligence
Matthew trained and qualified at a large city centre firm in Newcastle in 1997. His caseload consisted of coal mining accident claims against the former British Coal Corporation (BCC) and serious road traffic accidents.
After qualifying Matthew worked for a variety of firms specialising in road traffic accidents, working as a general personal injury and civil litigation solicitor and then as a supervisor of a team running COPD/chronic bronchitis claims against British Coal Corporation.
Most recently Matthew spent nine years working for a niche claimant professional negligence firm specialising in claims against solicitors and barristers.
Matthew currently specialises in professional negligence claims and in particular claims against solicitors and compensation for vibration white finger where the previous claim was under settled.
Outside of Work:
Matthew is a dedicated dog owner currently with three rescue dogs he and his wife have re-homed. In addition he is fair weather motorcyclist.
He is a trustee of the charity Teesdale & Cleveland (Quaker) Area Meeting. This position ensures the Charity complies with its charitable objectives and complies with various legislation such as: Charity Law, Employment Law & Health & Safety Laws.
As an individual Quaker Matthew participates in organizing and running multi-faith community events to promote good relations and understanding between different faith and non-faith based community groups, including an annual Walk for Peace which each year visits a number of different places of worship for various faith groups.
