Linton Camp Special Residential School began as a camp in Grassington for wartime evacuees from Bradford. After the war, Linton stayed open as a residential special school for children who could not be housed elsewhere. Linton Special Residential School eventually closed in 1985. There have been a number of allegations of abuse in relation to the school which have led to police investigation.
