Thorp Arch Grange is a children’s home in Leeds has been subject to allegations of both physical and sexual abuse between the 1960s and 1990s.
Thorp Arch Grange is also one of a number of children’s homes in the Leeds area being investigated by West Yorkshire Police under ‘Operation Polymer’which has resulted in the conviction of two former members of staff. In February 2017 Roy Allen and Roy Lovatt both in their early 70’s, were convicted of sexual offences committed against boys at the home. Lovatt who was housemaster at the school and Allen who was director of education, received prison sentences of 28 and 18 years respectively following trial at Liverpool Crown Court. Lovatt also pleaded guilty to a further 25 offences unrelated to Thorp Arch.
