Case Study - Eastwood Park Settlement Scheme

Man Silhouette

Jordans Solicitors negotiated with the Government Legal Department on behalf of the Ministry of Justice for a settlement scheme for former detainees who suffered physical and minor sexual abuse by Officers whilst they were detained in Eastwood Park Detention Centre. The settlement scheme was launched on the 14th January 2026.

The Client was detained in 1974 and suffered physical assaults by the Officers who worked there. As a result, our client suffered psychological and physical injuries. He received treatment for anxiety and depression and pain to his back, which he alleges attributes from the beatings he received.

We acted for our client in a claim that was submitted through the scheme and was successfully concluded where our client received £3000.

Our client said: “I would like to sincerely thank you for your help and support throughout the Eastwood Park claim process. You have been there for me every step of the way, and I truly can't thank you enough. From our very first conversation regarding the compensation claim, you have been consistently helpful and professional. It is a pity that more law firms don't follow your example. I look forward to the resolution of this claim in due course. In the meantime, I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate everything you have done. You have been fantastic throughout, and I felt it was important to share that with you.”
