Two suspects, one aged 38 and the other aged 40, have been arrested as part of an investigation into historic sexual abuse of multiple girls in Oldham.

The men were arrested in association to Operation Sherwood which focuses on the abuse of girls in the town between 2011 and 2014.  They were identified after Greater Manchester Police located a survivor and approached her about the case.

Assistant Chief Constable Steph Parker has said ‘we are working closely with the victims and survivors at the heart of these investigations. They’ve placed their faith in us, and we must get it right for them.

We will not allow the passage of time to be a barrier and while these are complex cases we are doing everything we can to piece together evidence and build strong case files to help secure the justice they deserve.

Protecting children is our priority, and we are committed to finding anyone who has harmed vulnerable young children and holding them to account.’

She goes on to state how they have arrested 12 men in the last three months in relation to Operation Sherwood emphasising their commitment to trace, find and lock up suspects involved in the abuse.
