A nursery worker named Roksana Lecka, aged 22, has been jailed for eight years after abusing 21 children in her care. In addition to this, she would also vape in the children’s room while high on cannabis.
The abuse occurred in two nurseries between October 2023 and June 2024. One of the counts related to Little Munchkins in Hounslow with the remaining counts at Riverside Nursery located in Twickenham.
The abuse involved Lecka punching, kicking, throwing and pinching the children which resulted in bruises and injuries later discovered by the children’s parents. Some of the children were as young as ten months old.
In one incident, Lecka repeatedly kicked a young boy in the face. She was also seen pushing babies headfirst into cots and covering a toddler’s mouth when he began to cry.
Lecka tried to defend her behaviour by stating that she could not remember the things she was doing as she had been smoking cannabis which affected her memory. She also stated how she would get moody if she did not smoke her vape at work.
Lecka worked at the nursery for just five months and in that time, she assaulted 21 children. CCTV footage of the abuse was shown at Kingston Crown Court, where her trial was held. Gasps could be heard around the room as the footage was played.
She has been found guilty of abusing 21 infants. Lecka pleaded guilty to seven counts of cruelty to a person under the age of 16. After nine hours and 53 minutes of deliberation, the jury convicted her of another 14 of the remaining 17 child cruelty counts, acquitting her of three.
On the 26th of September 2025 victim impact statements were heard at Kingston Crown Court from the parents of the 21 children that had been abused. Lecka did not show any signs of remorse as the parents spoke until one father stated that Lecka was capable of killing a child. This then made her cry, and she was therefore granted a break from the judge.
One mother said ‘I think Roksana is a huge threat to society. It is objectively shocking that she has been hiding in plain sight in society up until she was arrested. I think all of us can agree that only the worst kind of human would assault vulnerable babies.’
