Prioritising Mental Health: Jordans Solicitors' Commitment to Staff Wellbeing

Wear green for mental health

At Jordans Solicitors, we recognise that our strength lies in our people. As a firm deeply committed to supporting survivors of abuse, we understand the profound importance of mental health—not only for our clients but also for our dedicated staff. This May, in observance of Mental Health Awareness Week (12–16th May) and Mental Health Awareness Day (15 May), we reaffirm our commitment to fostering a supportive and mentally healthy workplace.

Supporting Our Team's Mental Wellbeing

The nature of our work, particularly within the Abuse team, often involves engaging with emotionally challenging cases. To ensure our staff are equipped to handle these demands, we have implemented several initiatives:

  • Mental Health First Aiders: We have trained members across our offices to serve as Mental Health First Aiders, providing immediate support and guidance to colleagues in need.
  • Confidential Support Services: All employees have access to confidential counselling services, ensuring they have a safe space to discuss personal or work-related concerns.
  • Flexible Working Arrangements: Recognising the diverse needs of our team, we offer flexible remote work options to promote a healthy work-life balance.
  • Regular Wellbeing Check-ins: Managers conduct periodic check-ins focused on wellbeing, fostering open communication and early intervention when needed.
  • Wellbeing Committee: A panel of employees from around the firm are committed to gathering anonymous feedback ensuring the firm is always moving forwards with great initiatives for supporting staff and their mental health.

Observing Mental Health Awareness Week and Day

To mark Mental Health Awareness Week and Day, Jordans Solicitors has organised joining in with dress down activities wearing green to ensure that we show solidarity in a simple but powerful way, sparking conversation and breaking the stigma.

A Culture of Care and Support

Our dedication to mental health is not confined to a single week or day; it is an integral part of our firm’s culture. We believe that by supporting our staff's mental wellbeing, we not only enhance their quality of life but also strengthen our capacity to serve our clients with empathy and professionalism.
