Supporting Mental Health Awareness Week 6th – 12th October 2025

Mental Health

This week is a reminder of the importance of good health and the need to prioritise and invest in good mental health, it gives people the chance to talk and open up on how we are feeling, to raise awareness and to support one another.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, worried, or fed up, maybe feeling depressed, anxious, lonely, or angry, it may be time to reach out for support and taking that first step.

Not speaking and having support around you can lead to significant mental health issues. There are many charities and organisations out there to help, remember you’re not alone! You can try self-strategies like connecting with others, having good relationships, being physically active and learning new things, all which will improve your mental health and wellbeing.

At Jordans, we understand that life is not always easy, and this can be a big contributor to having poor mental health. We work regularly with individuals whose experience of physical or sexual abuse has had a lifelong impact, having helped hundreds of clients to feel supported and find closure.

Safeline

Safeline is a specialist charity that’s been around since 1994. They work to prevent sexual abuse and support anyone affected by it to cope and recover. Their vision is that anyone at risk of or who has been affected by sexual abuse, should feel supported and have access to therapy and counselling, helplines and prevention education.

Safeline’s work touches countless lives, and we’re proud to play a part in that mission.

By becoming a sponsor of Safeline, we are supporting the charity and contributing to the salary of an ISVA (independent sexual violence advocate) to make it easier for survivors to get access to expert, confidential legal advice and support. Through this partnership, survivors will also have a direct line to our experienced legal professionals who understand the sensitivities and complexities of these situations.

NAPAC

NAPAC runs a free and confidential national helpline, which is run by experienced staff and trained volunteers, offering up to 30 minutes of supportive listening, basic signposting and guidance.

Survivors of abuse often cite their first contact with NAPAC as a pivotal moment, whereby they finally receive understanding, clarity and feeling heard.

Another core offering by NAPAC is their psycho educational support group model, developed to bring survivors together in facilitated and trauma informed sessions.  Those sessions are available online or in person, and help to build a sense of community, deepen healing and foster resilience.

They also provide a library of free downloadable booklets (many in audio format), which cover topics such as flashbacks and grounding techniques, survivor FAQs, support for male survivors and resources for young adults.  These publications serve both survivors and those supporting them with practical tools and emotional insight.

In addition to providing direct support to survivors of abuse, NAPAC leads training programmes and accredited e-learning, aimed at professionals across health, justice, and social care sectors, to ensure survivors are met with compassion and understanding in all settings.

NAPAC can be contact on 0808 801 0331 or https://napac.org.uk/
