Women aged 22 convicted of mistreatment of 21 babies at nurseries

Roksana Lecka, aged 22 has been convicted of physically abusing 21 babies at Twickenham Green Nursery and Little Munchkins Nursery located in Hounslow. Lecka has admitted seven counts of cruelty to a person under the age of 16 and was convicted of another 14 counts by a jury at Kingston Crown Court.
The abuse was discovered when Lecka was sent home after pinching multiple children and appearing ‘flustered’ at Twickenham Green Nursery.
Detectives from the Metropolitan police looked at the CCTV footage which revealed how the abuse involved pinching and scratching multiple children under their clothes on their arms, legs and stomach. On one occasion she kicked a boy in his face and stepped on his shoulder. She was also seen pushing babies headfirst over cots and covering a toddler’s mouth when he began to cry.
Leka’s offences relate to abuse which occurred in two nurseries between October 2023 to June 2024. One of the counts related to Little Munchkins and the remainder being at Twickenham Green Nursery.
It has been revealed that Leka would smoke cannabis prior to her shifts and on one occasion was vaping within a metre away from another baby.
Several parents reported unusual bruising and marks on their children between March and May of 2024. Leka worked at Twickenham Green between January and July 2024.
Di Sian Hutchings has said ‘these families left their children in Lecka’s care trusting her to protect their children as well as the other staff at the nurseries clearly did. The footage of her offences against defenceless children was disturbing.’
She goes on to praise the families of the children involved for having the strength to sit and watch the footage of the abuse that Leka had inflicted on their children.
Leka will be sentenced at Kingston Crown Court on 26th September.
