Working alongside Charities who support survivors of abuse

Woman Silhouette

In 2025, Jordans Solicitors became an official sponsor of Safeline, a specialist charity who are dedicated to preventing sexual abuse, and have been helping those affected by it to heal and rebuild their lives for over 30 years.

This month we have renewed our partnership with Safeline and I couldn’t be prouder of our relationship and our joint achievements over the last 12 months.

The sponsorship has helped to ensure that vital services continue to reach those who need them most, strengthening support for survivors of abuse by funding a specialist ISVA (Independent Sexual Violence Advocate). The partnership also provides survivors direct referral access to confidential expert legal advice

Celebrating our year of working together has caused me to reflect on the work that charities like Safeline do every day and how important it is to support survivors in any way we can to move forward and rebuild their lives.

I recognise that when you are supporting a survivor of abuse, you will know the lifelong and far-reaching impact it can have.

During their support, a survivor may ask for advice on pursuing a legal claim.

Whilst a legal claim is not the right choice for everyone, I believe it is important that clients receive legal advice, so that they can make an informed decision on how they wish to proceed and if they wish to pursue a legal claim the time limits which are in place.

Compensation can help a survivor take control of their life and get the justice they deserve. It can help them move forward; seek any support they require and start to rebuild their life.

I know that confronting an abuser is often a concern for your clients. Over 98% of our compensation claims are settled out of Court. This means that your clients are unlikely to have to face their abuser.

Our expert team can advise on all areas of Abuse compensation, including both civil and CICA claims.

Our civil claim Solicitors can advise on all types of civil claims:

  1. Redress schemes for survivors of abuse,
  2. Non recent abuse claims
  3. Sexual abuse claims
  4. Abuse in Detention Centres
  5. Abuse in Foster Care or Social Services settings
  6. Church of charitable organisations
  7. Sports or Youth Organisations
  8. Schools and Colleges
  9. Work place
  10. Care Homes

Our Criminal injuries Compensation Solicitors can advise on CICA claims:

If your client has been a survivor of a violent crime they may be entitled to compensation via the Government funded Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme ( CICA).

The scheme is designed to compensate blameless survivors of violent crime in England, Scotland and Wales.

A sexual assault is defined as a crime of violence under the scheme. If your client has been subjected to a sexual assault, then they may be able to make a claim which may include:

  • Injury Payment ( for the acts of abuse and psychological injuries)
  • Loss of Earnings Payments
  • Special Expenses Payments

An application must be made as soon as is reasonably practicable after the incident and in any event within two years after the date of the incident.

Where an applicant was a child under the age of 18 on the date the incident occurred, the application must be received by the authority:

  1. If reported to the Police before their 18th birthday, by the age of 20.
  2. If reported to the Police after their 18th birthday, within 2 years of the date of the first report to the police.
