CICA Case Study -  claim for physical and sexual abuse

Vulnerable Child

Jane Matthews represented the Applicant in a CICA claim. The Applicant suffered physical and sexual abuse by her parents whilst a child for many years. At the age of 10 years old she was placed into care. Her social worker, when she was 13 years old made a complaint to the Police, but the Police were unable to pursue the complaint as her parents were living abroad.

The Applicant was receiving psychiatric treatment at the time the application was submitted. Once the treatment ended a medical assessment with the Consultant Psychiatrist took place and a schedule of loss was prepared.

The CICA delayed in making an award and a complaint was issued against the CICA in October 2024. In January, the claim successfully concluded in the sum of £313,073.
