CICA Case Study – Claim involving human trafficking

Teenage silouette

Jordans Solicitors acted for the Applicant who was a victim of human trafficking after she was brought to the UK in March 2012, aged just 16, on the pretext of caring for extended family members. In reality, she was exploited and abused for 7 years resulting in both significant physical and significant psychological injury.

Initially the CICA made an aware of £14,000 to the Applicant. We advised the Applicant to reject this offer and proceed to Review. We arranged for a further assessment by the expert and raised questions to him. The evidence supported a mental injury award, past and future loss of earnings award. The CICA made an increased award to the Applicant of £220,000.
