CICA Case Study - mental injury award and loss of earnings award

Abuse woman window

Jordans acted for the Applicant in a CICA claim. The Applicant contacted us after submitting her own CICA application and receiving an award of £3300.  Solicitor Rachel Barker advised the Applicant to reject this offer and proceed to review. Medical evidence was obtained.

The Applicant had owned her own business but had to close this down due to the mental injuries she was suffering arising from the sexual abuse she suffered as a child.

Despite the Applicant initially stating that she had not suffered loss of earnings in the application, using the medical evidence, we were able to secure an increased offer from the CICA of £50,459.44 which included a mental injury award and loss of earnings award.

The claim was concluded for the Applicant within a period of 12 months.

Our client said this was “ a life changing amount of money I can use to improve my situation”.
