Can I book my wedding to my new partner before my divorce is finalised?

Whilst you can certainly make arrangements to remarry, you should be aware that until your divorce is finalised and you have received the Final Order from the Court, you run the risk of having to cancel or postpone your wedding to your new partner.
It can take approximately 6 - 8 months to finalise a straightforward divorce. If there are issues such as locating the whereabouts of your former partner or obtaining a copy of your marriage certificate for example, this could delay the amount of time it takes to conclude the proceedings. You will not be able to re-marry until after the Final Order of divorce has been received. Our advice would be to refrain from making any plans until the divorce has been finalised to avoid any disappointment or need to change your plans.
