Medical Negligence case that left a man paralysed

Warrington Hospital failed to diagnose a 34 year-old man correctly when he attended with symptoms of feeling dizzy and sick with severe headaches, leaving him paralysed and non-verbal.
Ollie Coppock attended A&E concerned about his symptoms after having recent brain surgery to remove a tumour and radiotherapy only a matter of months earlier, even taking an overnight bag with him presuming he would need to be admitted.
Ollie had made a fantastic recovery after his brain surgery, from being sent home only 10 days later and even returning to an active lifestyle and DJing.
Despite his medical records noting his previous history, Ollie was sent home without further investigation having been told he had a virus and to take paracetamol. Later, Ollie suffered from a cardiac arrest and was diagnosed with fluid on his brain following a CT scan leaving him with inoperable brain stem damage.
Ollie’s family have been left devastated after watching his initial recovery from surgery and can now only communicate with him by Ollie blinking to yes or no cards. Ollie’s breathing, feeding and toileting are all now carried out by tubes with Ollie being cared for at a rehab centre where he is now receiving specialised care.
The hospital has admitted they breached their duty of care following an internal investigation which noted a catalogue of failures in the care they provided to Ollie.
