What will happen to your claim if your Solicitors firm closes

The Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Team here at Jordans Solicitors are shocked and saddened to hear of the unexpected closure of PM Law and their associated companies. It is understood that clients of the firm are unable to obtain any information from the firm to assist in pursuing their cases, which may have impending limitation dates or court hearings which require representation.

We have now heard that the SRA have taken the decision to intervene in the closed firms. However, there is no timescale available to indicate to those clients left adrift how long it will be before they received any help and assistance with their legal matter, with the SRA indicating they will deal with matters based upon priority. Further, it is likely that the SRA will, in due course, transfer files to their preferred firm, rather than one which is known for its experience and client care. 

What many clients are unaware of is that they do have a choice in their subsequent legal representation and, they are able to do this at their convenience and within their preferred timescale.
