Update Your Will Week 2026

Introduced by The Association of Lifetime Lawyers, Update Your Will Week takes place annually and this year, is running from Monday 2 March to Sunday 8 March 2026.
Whilst many adults in the UK have a Will in place, it is important that they are reviewed every 3-5 years and updated where necessary.
There are many reasons why you may need to update your Will. It is common to consider this when you experience any significant life changes as the terms in your existing Will may not reflect your current wishes. Common examples include:
- Divorce
- Death in the family
- Having children
- Asset updates and change in financial circumstances
- Receiving inheritance
- Law and tax changes
It is important that your Will reflects your current wishes on how you would like your estate to be distributed and who you would like to distribute it. Reviewing your Will regularly will minimise the risk of family disputes or challenges when you pass.
Another key consideration when creating or reviewing your Will is if you wish to enter into a marriage or a civil partnership. Entering into a marriage or civil partnership will automatically revoke a Will, unless the Will was made in contemplation of the intended union.
If you are considering making a Will or your Will requires updating, please contact our Private Client team who will be more than happy to assist you.
