Eastwood Park – Less Than Six Months Left to Claim for Compensation

Man Silhouette

Here at Jordans Solicitors, we represent hundreds of men who were previously detained and abused at Eastwood Park Detention Centre in Gloucestershire. As one of the leading law firms obtaining compensation for survivors of Eastwood Park, we have already secured around £160,000 paid to our clients, with much more anticipated in the coming weeks. A further 220 men, also represented by Jordans, are expected to receive compensation in the near future.

At Eastwood Park, officers are known to have routinely and sadistically beaten, manipulated and abused boys on a large scale. While much of this abuse occurred in the 1970s and 1980s, one officer, Patrick Devaney, was convicted and sentenced for his role in the abuse in 2023.

In light of the shockingly widespread nature of abuse that was revealed to have occurred at Eastwood Park, in January 2025 the Ministry of Justice agreed to launch a scheme, paying out compensation and offering an apology to survivors.  Jordans played a key role in negotiating the scheme, ensuring that the passage of time is no barrier to justice.

6 Months Left to Claim

However, anyone considering making a claim should act fast. You have until 14th January 2026 to submit a claim, which can take time. Potential Claimants should therefore get in touch right away, to ensure you do not miss out on the compensation you are due.

To be eligible for the scheme, Claimants need to attended Eastwood Park and allege their experience of unlawful violence. This could be as little as one day of detention, which would warrant £3,000 in compensation. The amount on offer can rise to £4,000, depending on the total time spent at Eastwood Park and the nature of your experience.

There is an even larger sum, in the range of £7,500 - £9,500, available if medical can be located which demonstrates the lasting impact, physical or psychological, that Eastwood Park understandably may have had.

At Jordans, we are experts in representing survivors of abuse, including at detention centres. We can assist in preparing your claim and obtaining the evidence needed to ensure the process runs as smoothly as possible. Our representation is free of charge and available to anyone who attended Eastwood Park.
