Jordans Represent over 200 clients in Eastwood Park Detention Centre Redress Scheme

Man Silhouette

Eastwood Park Detention Centre in Wotton-Under-Edge, Gloucestershire, was the site of severe and extensive physical and sexual abuse of boys and young men in the 1970s and 1980s. Following the trial and conviction of one former officer, Patrick Devaney, in 2023, many hundreds of men have since come forward to confirm their own experiences of violence, abuse and psychological manipulation at the hands of officers and other staff.

After mounting pressure for accountability, the Ministry of Justice launched a compensation scheme in January 2025 for victims of abuse at Eastwood Park, whilst also offering a written apology.

To be eligible for the scheme Claimants only need to provide evidence that they spent time at Eastwood Park. This could be as little as one day of detention, which would warrant £3,000 in compensation, but may increase to £4,000 if you spent more than three months at Eastwood Park. Jordans Solicitors can assist in obtaining such evidence. There is also further compensation on offer, up to a value of £9,500, to individuals who can demonstrate a lasting, medical impact from their time at Eastwood Park.

We currently act for more than 200 clients and have already obtained close to £100,000 for 26 of our clients, with a further 34 currently undergoing settlement. As more claims settle each month, we expect that the amount paid out to our clients will continue to increase. Jordans Solicitors would not take any fee from the compensation you might receive, meaning you would not be liable to pay our legal costs.

This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to receive compensation for survivors of Eastwood Park in the 1970s and 1980s. We would therefore encourage those who may be eligible to get in touch and start their claim today.
